Van Nuys Arts Festival #VNAF2018

About This Project

The Van Nuys Arts Festival (VNAF) 2018 brought the Van Nuys Civic Center to life with an outdoor virtual forest. Participants experienced the Van Nuys Civic Center through interactive art installations, live music, a 3D dance party, and so much more. The event showcased the talents of a diverse group of local community partners and vendors designed to celebrate the creative arts in Van Nuys.

VNAF 2018 featured a number of partner organizations including The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), Discovery Cube, and the Van Nuys Public Library. Event-goers encountered an eclectic variety of artists, performances, and installations with collective 818 Arts lighting up the night with artist Spencer Sterling’s live, immersive projection mapping. Acclaimed animation artist Christine Marie hosted a 3D dance party. Gr818ers brought to life a graffiti art battle and block party. At the center of it all, the Civic Center transformed into a virtual forest with interactive light and mist installations.

VNAF 2018 main stage featured Maya Jupiter, Los Cambalache, NOVALA, and Lesser Pieces. The side stage featured a range of local DJs and students from CHAMPS Charter School and Van Nuys High School performed.

This program was supported by the Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs and produced by Dyson & Womack.
