Dyson & Womack serves as lead consultant to the Los Angeles County Department of Arts & Culture on PAiD: Public Artists in Development, a first-of-its-kind professional development initiative funded by the Mellon Foundation. Our scope includes designing and delivering a series of free workshops covering the full spectrum of public art practice, from applying to open calls to navigating materiality, fabrication, and project management.
We also convene and guide the PAiD Artist Council, a group of artists who collaborate with us to shape policy recommendations for the County while producing their own temporary public artworks. In partnership with LA Commons, we mentor and train the PAiD Apprentices as they design and build their first permanent public artworks for the County. Across all these initiatives, PAiD is rooted in access, equity, and lifelong learning, supporting historically underrepresented artists in building sustainable careers in public art
