“Our Community,” a laminated glass artwork, embodies the spirit of San Gabriel Valley, celebrating its residents, landmarks, and places. Erick engaged with community members at the Basset County Park Senior Center, La Puente High School, and Sparks Elementary School to document their voices and other beloved community symbols such as Donut Hole and the majestic San Gabriel Mountains depicted in the artwork.

Erick’s process involved photographing his subjects and then transforming them into textile pieces with an industrial sewing machine. These “sewn paintings,” crafted from thread and denim, were later translated into glass to create a vibrant community frieze that honors all who gather at the Aquatic Center.
